A Little About Me

I've had a wonderful journey of
learning and self-discovery that I want to share with you.

Foundation and Perspectives

“The truth is that stress doesn’t come from your boss, your kids, your spouse, traffic jams, health challenges, or other circumstances. It comes from your thoughts about your circumstances.”

―Andrew Bernstein

Charlene

I’m Charlene Wilson. I help stressed-out people achieve a low-stress lifestyle.

I’m a board-certified Health and Wellness Coach specializing in stress management. I have a passion for living well, and I enjoy helping people learn to manage their stress. I practice reducing my stress with meditation, writing, exercise, and learning new things. I enjoy cooking, having fun with family and friends, and taking in a good movie or book.

My general philosophy on Health and Wellness is this:

  • Health and wellness should be available to anyone who seeks it.
  • Wellness is about more than just being healthy. It is a commitment to the mind, body, and spirit.
  • Clients have innate abilities and capacities to overcome obstacles and reach their goals, and I will wholly honor this.

My Journey

Many times in my life, I could feel that I was in a cycle of stress. There were low points during which I felt completely helpless and high points when I figured out how to resolve the issue I was facing. I didn't like this cycle, but I wasn't motivated enough to change anything because I always seemed to persevere. Then came the ultimate trial when I felt so much pressure and stress that I felt lost and unable to move in any direction. All at once, I was facing the end of a relationship, becoming the caregiver to an aging parent, and a job loss. The weight of these issues was crushing. I couldn't sleep, I wasn't eating well, and I couldn't see a path forward. I knew I had to do something different to get out of this slump.

I started journaling to come up with a plan and to release some of my feelings. I also started reaching out to others who could help me or listen to me with a compassionate ear. I incorporated meditation, sound journeys, and exercise into my routine. Doing these things with consistency helped to change how I looked at things. I began to believe that I would be fine. I regained my confidence. I got better at scheduling time for the things I wanted to do and time for managing my new responsibilities. The commonality with these experiences and practices centered around stress. I was reducing my stress levels and developing long-term coping skills.

I knew I wanted to start helping others by sharing what I learned about my stress patterns and how I tried to reduce stress and change my outlook, so I completed my Master’s in Health and Wellness Coaching. I learned the process of making lifestyle changes and how to guide clients towards their wellness goals through a process of goal-setting, discussing and identifying motivations, and identifying ways to play to their strengths and core values.

Further, I earned my credentials as a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), representing the gold standard in my industry. I developed mindfulness and sound relaxation skills to augment my coaching to create spaces to release stress and tension. I also learned visualization and hypnosis techniques that help clients remap old thought patterns to create new and more positive habits. In my practice, I combine these skills to work with my clients on managing their stress in two ways: I help my clients create plans to address their immediate stressors and teach clients techniques to address how they respond to stress. As a result of my journey, I created Evergreen Wellness Journeys.
